R. Scott Clark is professor of historical and systematic theology at Westminster Seminary in California. However, R. Scott Clark does not teach Reformed theology. He believes that it is impossible for any man to be regenerated, justified, or converted outside a local church congregation. That’s right, he’s claiming that salvation depends upon you joining a local assembly of men. Claiming the Gospel demands us to join a local church is mixing Law and Gospel. Confessional Lutheran CFW Walther has an excellent lecture on this in his classic book “The Proper Distinction Between Law and Gospel.” R. Scott Clark also denies that one can be converted simply by reading the Bible apart from the local church congregation. Apparently, Scott Clark’s sacerdotalism will not allow the Bible in general, and the Gospel proper in particular, to be effectual. It is Roman Catholicism that claims there is no salvation outside the church. Calvinism teaches there is no salvation outside of Christ (Ephesians 1:4–Solus Christus)! R. Scott Clark made these remarks at puritanboard.com at this thread: www.puritanboard.com Read the thread for yourself.
